Trama

Kleypas I thank the girls of the reading group who made me discover this beautiful novel. Although it’s a regency set in 1800’s London, it actually has a lot more in its plot. The main protagonist is a highly respected and feared police officer, not only for his features. Tall and sturdy, with big hands and a stern look, Grant Morgan has become legendary for his investigation and case resolution businesses. One night of a cold London winter, she will find the almost lifeless body of one of the most famous courtesans in the area: Vivien Duvall, a despicable woman who uses men as she likes just to get rich. Some time before he had known her at a party and, although at first he was attracted to her, after having known her he had rejected her because of his cold and calculating nature. Now that he had saved her, he could not wait to take revenge for a wrong immediately, but the courtesan Vivien has lost her memory and will prove to be sweet and delicate-minded. It’s nice to see Grant’s inner conflict between the desire for revenge and the sense of protection against this now defenseless woman. Not only. He will have to investigate who may have attempted to kill her by strangling her and throwing her into the Thames. It is interesting to follow the investigations, go into the private life of a courtesan, full of secrets and lovers. A story full of suspense, he ran against time to prevent the murderer on the loose trying to accomplish his intent. Who can want her dead? Who is Vivien? A sweet or opportunistic woman? Will Grant be able to agree his heart and mind? An exciting novel to read in one breath!
